I didn't notice at the time, and that is probably for the best, because I would have cried and cried. It is indeed a good thing that we don't know when something is over. Oh, we sense the endings, but we always think we have one more time, one more day, one more moment. We are going through a lot of this now-- with Ammo's last Christmas vacation. They don't realize that never again will there be a month when they can just come home and be taken care of for four weeks, while Dan and I are very aware that we are in the last months of having a child who is still more ours than the world's. Time only seems to matter when it's running out. --Peter Strup
