I read about it in the San Francisco Chronicle, Business section front page, August 26, 1997, "New Java Phones Let Users Access Web, E-mail".
It said the Nortel phone would have a "touch screen keyboard", and 7-inch color monitor, 33.6-baud modem, 8MB memory, 486 processor, plugs for two standard phones lines, so people can do webby things while they're on the phone. I think they meant "touch screen AND keyboard". Sounds just like Cidco's iPhone, but with a color screen, faster modem, and maybe more memory. If it works well, I'd buy a webphone, but will a 7" screen be adequate? |
