Hi Elroy, I'm not cheerleading. What I'm saying is that the U.S. is losing high-paying managerial and engineering jobs to China.

Here's a quick test. Does anyone on this thread have a friend who works for Cisco or some other large high tech company? If you do, would you mind getting them to check internal postings and give us an idea of the quantity and type of job openings in China?

I did the same at the consulting firm I work at and did you know what I found? I found 2 software developement Manager positions open. Mandarin speakers preferred. I also found 14 software engineering postings, ranging from QA to tech lead positions. I checked into one of the manager positions and they will pay for all relocation costs, will give you a housing stipend over and above your salary for 2 years after arrival, pay for all language skills classes, and your salary won't be cut to move there. The assignment was for 2 years. That's a pretty decent deal.

If someone else posts what they find on this thread, then at least we'll have some anecdotal evidence of the China picture. But I suspect what we'll find is lot's of high paying job openings in China. Those are job openings that used to be right here in the U.S.

If all the growth opportunity is in China and not in the U.S., don't you think we have a problem? All those high paying salaries are not being spent here in the U.S. Instead, they are being spent in China, which is further fueling their virtuous growth cycle. This is serious business and it's not going away anytime in the next few decades. It is only going to get worse.
