I have to wonder what the people launching these suits think they have to gain. Is it a conscious effort to legally defaud an easy victim, bombing the stock and making money shorting? As I posted some time back, there was a totally baseless lawsuit in Guyana against Cambior asking for $1 billion damages, which sent their stock plummeting. Also, much of the opposition to Rosia Montana in Romania appears like sophisticated grandstanding orchestrated by someone who has been reported in the media to be from Switzerland, even though he claims to represent Romanian locals (which comes as a surprise to most of them, from what I can tell). Is this the perfect game for conmen and swindlers, frivilously attacking junior mining stocks?
