CJ, I think it is pretty clear he is faking his Texas roots, like so much of his life.

So when Clinton "feels your pain," he's being a "masterful politician," but when Bush demonstrates a Texas persona, he's being a phony?

I posted the video of him talking in 1994. He didn't have the Texas twang then nor in a 1970s video clip when he was commenting on the Vietnam War. In the past ten years, it seems he's 'adapted' to his surroundings in a rather shallow way. That's a little more facile than feeling one's pain IMO.
