Don't know about the jump in price but I have about 600 albums (give or take) with all the songs from them on my CPU. Now its in WMA format and thats a fat format! But those consume about 19 gigs of space I believe so if you want an entire collection of cd's (I have about 500-700 more to load) you may want to spring for the 40 gig one
