NYTimes in interviews with ordinary americans finds that though they are upset with the way the war has gone to date, they are prepared to stay the course. That reminds me so much of vietnam. Its something in the american psyche that prevents us from altering course early on or admitting error. This period of resignation to casualties as well as the above will lead to a rout of the republicans in 2006 if things are not materially better by Spring 06. Thats whats left of the window we have to make things work. Personally i need to see some progress by spring/summer 05. Somebody should bookmark this post and hold my feet to the fire if that is what occurs. As Laurel said to Hardy: "This is a fine mess you have gotten us into Ollie. Whatever our opinions on the war were at the outset, we should all be rooting for a positive outcome. Again thats what they said about vietnam. Its interesting for me to be on the pro-war side in this one. mike
