The history of change and renewal in the world has not been exactly linear. More like a spiraling with conflict in a particular direction. The general direction is toward liberal justice, and autonomy for individuals... That is, changes in the order of society, when purposeful trends toward a liberal democracy, and away from either extreme of fascist rule or state engineered social mandates.

Society benefits from the productive energy and competition of free enterprise. But, it also needs a justice system that is viewed as fair and equitable according to the needs of the least among us, as well as those needs of the most successful.

We have the natural right to freedom of conscience, liberty, and to be treated justly by others. The weakest member of the librae of justice in modern times is 'freedom of conscience'. I would like to see more laws that afford an individual to exercise his freedom of conscience even though he/she may have previously committed or contracted to some form of human endeavor.
