Of course not everyone who lives in poverty works fulltime. But there are a lot of full-time jobs that will keep people in poverty. And of course it is good if everyone works. However, there are a lot of Americans who were laid off in the last recession from good-paying jobs who cannot find work at all in my state, and many who have can only find minimum wage retail jobs because those good jobs are gone forever to India.

Still, the whole idea of the minimum wage was a wage that would provide at least minimal housing and food. The American minimum wage no longer does that.
