Well, Coug, everyone has their own idea of what is moral to eat (or exploit). When I am most concerned is when people eat animals that are factory farmed, and have no idea how much the animals suffer. The American agricultural industry is truly evil, I think. I have a story about a pig farmer with second thoughts that I read somewhere, and if I can find it tomorrow or the next day, I will post it. I am getting pretty tired right now.

I don't agree with you about life being a zero sum game. Everyone has the power to create a reality where every life is treated reverently and respectfully. Or they can create a world of disrespect and factory farming. I could run an animal sanctuary and nurse damaged farm animals back to health, or I could run a factory turkey farm, for example. I could take in as many animals as I can care for, and foster litters of pound puppies and kittens, or I could eat veal or foie gras every night. Everyone makes choices. I do agree that vegetables give their lives for our salads and such, but they do not suffer like animals with faces and hooves and beating hearts and babies they nurse. In fact (I'm pretty sure you are not aware of this) a lot of people use arguments like that to make vegetarians seem ridiculous, which I know you are not trying to do.
