At $40 a barrel, with CO2 disposal costs added, assuming King George II and Emperor Putin and others agree to do it, oil is becoming seriously expensive. A LOT of photovoltaic applications would come on stream under those conditions. The gap has narrowed a LOT, even now.

We'll just have to agree to agree that photovoltaics aren't much of an option at present [with current oil prices and environmental legislation]. It's much more fun to disagree.
