I am reading that 40 miles of Interstate 24 are shut down in Kentucky, due to snow, with hundreds, maybe thousands, of cars trapped, waiting to be rescued! Wow.

I guess they don't have the right kind of cars for snow and ice. Rear wheel drive cars can't handle that kind of weather.

But even the right kind of car won't help if you drive too fast. People think four wheel drive means they can drive fast, but they can't.

This is something Yankees grow up knowing how to do, but those of us from the South are bewildered. My niece, who is in med school in Maine, called me for advice on how to drive in snow and ice. I told her it's a lot like driving when the roads are flooded after a heavy rain. I bet Yankees don't have much experience driving when the roads are a couple feet deep with water!

In Louisiana, driving on flooded roads is just a fact of life.

Edit: 55 degrees here in NoVa, starting to rain.
