"The average person in Iraq understand what I mean. "

I agree but the average iraqi, particularly in the Sunni area, has no power other than the US forces which they cannot support for fear of loss of life for them and their family. If you read the friedman article i posted, try to picture the idealistic election workers being pulled from a car and publicly executed on bagdad street while cameras rolled. Those poor iraqis may be destined to suffer for a much longer time while some on the left take such delight in proving bush wrong. Just like the folks clinging to the helicopters in vietnam. Sometimes all the power in the world wont work against a determined enemy. Sometimes poor ops prevent a successful outcome. I will let the historians debate those points if and when we are forced from the Triangle. We still have a free kurd state that can defend themselves and hopefully the shiaa will survive as an independent entity in such a case and we should be working with the iranians to this outcome.
