I came out of MAN during my market top liquidation call of Sept-Oct. 2003, so it was a market call, not company specific, and in hindsight a bit of luck. Obviously MAN has been a real victim of NIMBYism. I did ride GBU down on their NIMBYism issues. Almost all these developing plays have NIMBY or implementation cost issues, so that leaves established producers. Those are all overpriced stocks in my book, so that leaves nothing. I really don't like raw grassroot plays, the economics don't support the effort unless there is an established resource that the market values very cheaply. Even if they find top quality deposits the market often pays little anyway, witness MNG, CLG, GBU, ad nauseum. Perhaps nothing is an option in this sector? Certainly has occurred to me. You will recall someone asking me about having to hold my nose buying these stocks, and if that were true of MRB? I answered absolutely, and posted the story about a 23 yo kid (the new small town Mayor) being a thorn in their side.
