My wife knew a binge drinker, in college. He would go sober for a couple of weeks, then fall apart. He crashed at her place for awhile on his last bender, and she suspected that he purposely drank himself to death, to end his humiliation and self- loathing. She helped clean him up, only to have him return to his bender after a slight rest. It upset her that she had been placed in the position of furthering the spree.....
