I live in the Seattle area and I think TERA is too speculative. Their supercomputer may be neat but they will have hard time making any money in the near future. If I want to invest in the field of supercomputers (which I don't want to because the market is too small and competition is cut throat, and the technology can become obsolete too easily), one company I like is Sequent Computer (SQNT) down in Portland, OR. They are actually now shipping the supercomputers, plus they have alliance with Oracle, plus they use a bunch of Pentium chips inside the computer. It's much cheaper to use existing chips and technology (Pentium).

Speaking about local stocks, I like the biotech ones: SNUS and PGNS.
