BUT only for some poor unemployment workers who have no pension and some poor rural migrant workers. Generally speaking, the majority (90%+) of Chinese in cities can afford the hospital care in a timely manner. And this is what I am talking about! The sheer number of them is 300+ million. And Canada only has a population of <30 million.

The problem with Western media and some of Westerners (like you<g>) is that they focus their view on 10% or less of cases and thought they were looking at a whole picture of China. Not true!

People who have jobs (they are still the absolute majority in Chinese cities believe it or not<g>), people who retired on pensions (still the majority of retirees), people are who are unemployed but have had 30 years of working experience, and people who are unemployed and have no 30 years of working experience but have unemployed insurance, can still have 80%+ of their health care cost covered, and they do not have to wait for more than one week in case they need some check up for possible cancer

And even if for those who have no insurance, the check up cost is very low, although the treatment cost can be very high. But hey! I am talking about the checking up here.

And for the minority who have no money (most of them are poor farmers), they can still borrow from relatives in case of emergency. Yes, it is very normal for Chinese relatives and friends to lend/borrow money from each other without any legal papers.
