We supported Saddam as a counterweight to Iranian ambitions in the Gulf...at the time..Iran seemed a larger menace....the idea was to halt the spread of the "Islamic Revolution"....

With respect to Saddam's Kuwait adventure, you are not seriously suggesting that one incident as the one you pointded out negates the FACT that Saddam raped Kuwait and brutalized its people are you?
