If every person who came in with flu symptons had a spinal tap test there would be more deaths/injurys from the tests than from meningitis. The test itself carries a degree of risk. I have had my share of problems with the medical system but have come to the conclusion that they do the best they can with what they got. You can now get shots for at least one kind of meningitis now. I paid to have my kids done, last I checked they were free to kids once they hit a certain age. take care ralfph
