Just In: Martians Responsible for Madrid March 11 Bombing

By Diplomad

A December 24 AP report tells us that,

The Islamic Commission of Spain has asked the parliamentary panel probing the Madrid train bombings to refrain from referring to terrorists as "Islamic" or "Islamist" < . . . >
"Unfortunately (these terms) are used too frequently in political, journalistic and editorial circles, almost on a daily basis, creating a public opinion of social, anti-Islamic alarm," the group's leader Ria Tatary said in a letter sent to the parliamentary commission. < . . .> The March 11 bombings, which killed 191 people and injured 1,800, have been blamed on Muslim religious extremists with possible ties to the international terror group, al-Qaeda. Eighteen people, mostly Moroccans, have been charged and jailed in the case.

Hmm . . . don't use the words "Islamic" or "Islamist," huh? OK, sure. Let's call black, white, and white, black; let's say that the moon is made of cheese; let's say that, oh, I don't know, that Islam is just another religion deserving of our respect and understanding and that it teaches and practices tolerance . . . unfortunately, none of those things is true. And, by the way, Mr. Ria Tatary, The Diplomad wishes to remind you that the Spanish Government of Jose Maria Aznar's Partido Popular (PP) did not blame the March 11 atrocity on "Islamist" or "Islamic" terrorists. The Government's initial suspicions fell on the Basque ETA terrorist organization. That helped cost the PP the national elections when it became clear that the bombings, in fact, had been carried out by ISLAMIST/ISLAMIC terrorists. So one can hardly claim that Spaniards' first impulse was to blame Muslims for the terror of March 11.

In line with Mr. Tatary's request, The Diplomad proposes that we not accuse Japan of attacking Pearl Harbor; Germany of invading Poland; or Italy of invading Ethiopia. It's just so insulting . . . It's much better to live in a fantasy world.
