Oil ... just oil, and maybe re-think meantime the holding of US treasuries as reserves ... on these two things the US has set themselves up to be totally dependent - on inflow of foreign oil, and inflow of foreign savings - two billions usd/day of the latter, lord knows how many millions of barrels of oil ... as long as the powermeisters in control of weapons like the Commerzwaffe can take for granted these two inflows, they will remain arrogant and abusive of their suppliers
Hold back lumber and they'll just import from elsewhere, and hang the transport cost ... as i say above, they've already done this to great extent, from early on following the 27% tariff wall [which was originally higher i think, ~32%] ... this would gain us nothing, and is actually what the pine lobby would like, to bankrupt everybody here so they can sleaze in and pick everything up for pennies on the dollar
It is true we need to continue efforts to diversify lumber sales worldwide, we always have tried to of course, with some success, and we must try harder .... but the US is a closer and larger market [only three nations build with our style of platform construction, Canada Japan and the US], and when it's not open to us we will suffer, guaranteed .... meantime we're permitting all manner of US crap into this country completely tariff-free, the shoddiest of Hollywood dreck included, we're allowing the same sorts who control the Commerzwaffe to push us around in myriad ways, and we're still pumping oil at them day and night - doesn't make sense, you don't feed the hand that smites you, at some point there has to appear in this country a political movement with old-fashioned canadian resolve, the sort of thing we demonstrated at Juno Beach and Vimy and Queenston Heights, a national spine |
