Insurgents want their stories told as much as other people and some are willing to let Iraqi photographers take their pictures. It's important to note, though, that the photographers are not "embedded" with the insurgents. They do not have to swear allegiance or otherwise join up philosophically with them just to take their pictures.


No, they just have to become accessories before the fact, when they fail to warn the intended victims before they show up to snap pictures of their executions.

And BTW, Mr. AP, insurgents want their stories told much more than other people; they need it desperately. It's only through the magnification of publicity that they can hope to intimidate the vast majority of their countrymen. That's why they must kill viciously and get the pictures out.

Which is why your aid is essential to them. The aid which you are providing, while claiming neutrality.
