H2Steve0,
I don't think we disagree with respect to the content of your post.
My statement that Israel needs peace to survive is a long term view. Clearly, Israel has the power to dominate its neighbors, militarily and economically, and should not give in to terror.
However, as the years go by, Israel has to realize that it won't take much for a crazed jihaddist to destroy much of Israel. It's awful to think this way, but given the size of Israel and the insanity that is faced, it's not something that should be ignored.
I'm not even sure if there is any rational response. I can think of only two and neither may be both rational or realistic given history.
1) Make peace such that there is mutual respect along defensible borders, combined with trade and economic relations. Build respect for others, instead of hatred, as has been the case in the Arab world.
2) US, Israel and other nations must make it known that if there is another 9/11 type event, X number of Islamic cities and centers are to be destroyed. In that way, the cowardly leaders and those who direct the suicide jihaddist will realize that they have something to lose. If OBL knew for sure that his entire family would be wiped out before 9/11, perhaps he wouldn't have gone forward. |
