Since I seem to relish being one of the first to list my stocks and then proceed to follow the pack through the year, why be different for 2005! So here is my list for 2005 with allocations to be made at the end of the week:
1) NUVO- Two Phase III trials to start in 2005, with the potential of one other to start before the end of the year. Currently three drugs in the pipeline in phase testing for four indications. Pending is news on another drug candidate coming from their internal development program.
2) DSCO- FDA news on NDA coming in early 2005 for Surfaxin.
3) AXYX- Phase II results in early 2005 and IF they are positive ….!!!
4) CMN- A mundane company with no Wall Street coverage but recent move to provide water purification to biotech industry is smart move. Stock has doubled for me in 2004, but I expect 2005 to be as good.
5) VASC- Pending news on alliance partner to market their thrombin based bleeding control product in trauma events will be a huge success. Product currently being tested in Iraq conflict…so I hope it is saving our soldier’s lives.
6) CTIC- Don’t like management’s antics but like the potential for Xyotax.
7) CRIS- 2005 could be early for their success as a biotech, but one has to be impressed with the strong alliance partnerships they are forming with their hedgehog technology.
8) MICU- Strong need for new antibiotics and IMO MICU will fill the need. There is the possibility of two NDA approvals in 2005.
9) NKTR- This could be the drug delivery company for the future. Recent EYET approval gives them nice revenue flow, but the approval of the inhalable insulin project would be huge. But readily admit there are huge hurdles on this project!
10) RITA- Radio-frequency ablation! Could recent trial results be true and this is a viable option for inoperable tumors in many patients. Fingers are crossed!
11) NVD-Everyone needs a penny stock in their portfolio and NVD is mine! They currently have a drug before the FDA for approval, but it is a mundane nitro-glycerin product. However, this could validate their delivery system for the other major products they are working with….Sanofi-Aventis’s Ambein ® being only one. Management team seems to have a good pedigree.

And finally my charity continues to be Habitat for the Humanity…and it isn’t too late to contribute for 2004!
