I do not know why any normally occupied adult would encourage or require other adults to get into silly internet spats. To get in to fights oneself, on one's own hook, is childish enough- but to go about fomenting trouble, or listening to those who foment it, is surely the mark of a childish and unoccupied mind. It is an absolutely ridiculous waste of time.

We could, after all, be sharing recipes, discussing football, perversions, pets (sometimes the same thing as perversions), good books, good wines, good films, and favorite restaurants and trips.

It is sad there are those who would be nasty for nastiness's own sake, and probably out of sheer boredom. But you can do better, obviously, and so can we.

I have not recommended this movie yet to Coug, so let me recommend it first to you- Danny Deckchair- very nice little movie set in Australia, about people who try for positive action in their lives. Many people on SI would do well to rent it, and emulate it (even if it did them no good whatsoever in the character department, if they emulate the main character, at least they'd spare the rest of us for a good long time.).
