Those people, in theory, could have been saved. I have a friend who is setting by her phone here in Waikiki and watching the TV as she waits for a call from her son who is on vacation in Thailand. This long a wait to an event this bad doesn't look too good. We are all detached from an event like this until something personal brings it home.
