The Tea party was a lot of fun. We had the people from my folks old church over. Many had never been to the old house so had never seen the Christmas decorations, and I think only the minister and his wife had seen the new house.

We made scones, orange bread, lemon curd, mock Devonshire cream, plus served strawberry jam and home-made blueberry jam that ended up more like thick syrup with whole blueberries. And made cucumber & egg salad finger sandwiches, and a salmon spread on crackers, and a tray of cheese balls and crackers. And strawberries and olives. The olives were an afterthought but they were all eaten. A surprise to an olive dis-liker. People eat them? And trays of our Christmas cookies for dessert. It was fun to see people enjoy it and get into the spirit. Only one cup of coffee was drunk. The tea flowed and had to keep being replenished, and the hot apple cider was gone through well.

After they left, some family friends came over, and I was hustling to make more sandwiches before they arrived.

It was a lot of fun and something different, and not "that" much work, less so than a big dinner in a lot of ways or maybe just funner to make cute sandwiches. I do love tea parties! I recommend getting out that scone recipe, or going with the mix Ion spoke of. And the cream. To heck with the calories now and then.
