Huh. OK, printing all that out, but I don't think there's any way for me to know which codec was used?

The artist who suffered the most in my test, Daniel Lanois, is also a professional sound engineer who produces for people like U2. In other words, he's one of the best.

And I used the same source, iTunes, and the same equipment, for every cut.

One thing I have no idea about is the playback equipment, which was designed for LPs, aka analogue sound. At least the speakers and the amplifier were. The CD player was obviously designed for digital sound.

Are there speakers which are better for digital sound than analogue sound, and vice versa?
