That is all too obvious if you know the history of WWII well enough.

Eisenhower's landing at Normandy was actually a military blunder. Fortunately for him, Hitler had ordered his guards the night before, that they were not to alert him to anything for the next 48 hours. They obeyed!!!

Result: the Allies had sufficient time to regroup and reorganize and, because Hitler was not awakened, he did not order his Panzer Divisions into action which would have led to a different outcome.

To be sure, much as many biased folks would disagree, D-Day was in the end successful due to fortuitous circumstances rather than well-planned strategy.
