I just saw some heroic rescue footage of a couple and their sailboat who were plucking people out of the water who got pulled out to sea when the tsunami withdrew. They said there were other boats in the area who seemed unwilling to help. Including a small ferry boat. The dude had dinghy that he used to run about scooping up children and adults and bring them to his boat where his wife or mother (couldn't tell the age) trolled around looking for others. Their 30ish foot boat was filled with people. They had a dramatic story to tell. The area looks like a great place to sail. ...when its not too wavy... -Clapper P.S. Are you still sailing in this cold weather? You mentioned a catalytic heater. I never heard of them before. I looked it up and they appear to have no flame. Sounds like it might be good for inside a tent. Though I read that it is necessary to allow for some ventilation (I assume to prevent CO poisoning). Let me know how good it works. I may get one for camping, but more importantly I may use it while I tinker in my workshop (garage) during the cold days. Right now I use a ceramic disk furnace that helps a little and figure a kerosene heater would eat up too much real estate.
