In most of Italy you pay for shopping bags. I think it's about 10 cents. You also have to bag your own groceries. Very irritating to a slacker grocery shopper like me.

Just one more way they stick it to families if you ask me. Most customers only get one or two bags because they don't have allot of kids in Italy. Of course, I sometimes use two carts and fill about 15 bags!

Here is another way I noticed in many European countries they stick it to families. When you stay at most Hotels, they charge for every person that stays in your room, kids get virtually no break unless they are under 2. So, let's say the room cost 70 euros a night, that's 140 or so for you and your wife, now add 3 kids between 5 and 12 and see how quick your vacation adds up!

Comfort and Holiday Inns could teach the Europeans a thing or two about pricing.
