Mish Asks:
New starts plunge
New sales plunge
Existing homes hit new highs
Someone care to interpret that data?

LP Replies:
New Home Sales Are Recorded When the Contract is Signed.
However, Existing Home Sales are not logged into "Existing Home Sales" data, until the two parties close the transaction.
IMO, the market and traders should pay more attention to the most recent data--which is New Home Sales. Today's Existing Home Sales data would of course have cumulative "sales" within it from months ago.

Mish:
It would seem that existing sales are lagging data, starts are leading data, and new sales concurrent data
