John,

Re: oil industry has invested billions into research for alternative energy.

Perhaps you fail to distinguish between U.S. domiciled vs. ROW oil corporations?

You know, I believe you missed my point, entirely. What I said was that U.S. based oil corporations are troglodytes, utterly failing to respond rationally to the reality of our energy future.

Show me the U.S. based oil companies that have "invested billions into research for alternative energy". I don't think you can.

It is true, the DOE and the National Labs have spent perhaps a few billions of taxpayer dollars in alternative energy research. BP and Shell have aggressive research projects in alternative energy, but neither are U.S. based firms.

What I said was extremely specific. U.S. oil corporations have not invested anywhere near what you claim they have.

Prove me wrong.
