Yeah it was there...but when you had a thriving economy and jobs were easy to be had...infact a few dot coms were created just to handle the job demands...you don't see the manufacturing base shrinking as starkly as you do in a shrinking job market.

That said, maybe it's a good thing to have a bit of a slow down in the economy, so that the shrinkage of the manufacturing base would be painfully obvious. I think it's important that our country not only have a strong manufacturing base, that in fact we should be leading the world in manufacturing, added value, high tech, alternative energy. We lead in manufacturing by melding it with technology. Robotics and computer controlled processes.

Can't think of much more important endeavor for the security of the nation. The war on terror has been so badly prosecuted that it has and continues to drain resources from these other needed activities. In fact it's morphed into a war in Iraq, where the current combatants have little or nothing to do with 9-11. All they want is to control their destiny...Sunni will not kowtow to Shia controlled elected government. Been saying that since way before the war was entered into. Now stir in the Kurds in the north and friction between the Turks and you have the makings of a big civil war. In this Civil war, the US is basically taking the side of the Shia. When you hear about Iraqi forces...were really talking about Shia...who stand to benefit most if there is an election....which the US endorses, supports...heck were orchestrating it!

I think it's going to boil down to a partitioning of Iraq. Effectively you have a partitioned Iraq now. The only glue holding the whole house of cards together is the blood of our brothers and sisters.

And then you have OBL cheerleading from the caverns of Pakistan unfettered. Telling the Iraqis to abandon the election process. This is the result of this administration's failures in the war on terror (war in Iraq), and now it's coming home to roost in Iraq. I don't know what could be a bigger flag to the fact that we are going down the wrong path, except for maybe adding another 12,000 troops.

Talk of WMD is a fading memory now....(fade to black)

Hate to say I told you so boys, but plain and simply we freaked up.

Happy New Year
