That started already in the 1980-90s (how much cash can be fit into a container?), but now all TVs are becoming flat panel displays with a substantive reduction in both weight as well as shipping space.

I have understood the manufcturers in Mexico are already restructuring.

PS My weight-space-price "experience" from the european television markets in the 1980-90s.
