Here is a chart on ALAN....the big white candle is a good thing...right?

I've made some cuttings of red rasberries also. The blackberries are a cross of Boysenberry and Rasberry stock that will be grafted onto California Blackberry root stock. Production is in the second year canes growing after the first year of pruning. Tannins in the crossed stock is on a par with pure bred Rasberry, but Rasberry stock, on its own is suseptable to Floroxara (a root rot). The California root stock is very resistant to rot and all sorts of leaf problems.

The biggest drawback to my whole plan is that the fruit is not harvested by machine, but I'm working on that one too. The canes are thorned, more like nettles...I'm think along the lines of a long handled fork (much like a dinner fork) with 2 of the tines remomved so that one could go right over the top of the fruit, a gentle flick down and the fruit drops into your bucket. Worth a try anyway?

Anyone else have some ideas???

Ken
