I also find Ameritrade to work reasonably well. I end up putting in the order as a NASDAQ bulletin board stock, with a five letter symbol. I think I get reamed on the currency exchange (which may happen regardless of the broker). Then I get screwed on the bid-ask spread (which will happen regardless of the broker I presume). Which is why I am beginning to prefer the AMEX listed stocks in general. Because with the Canadian-listed stocks I sometimes have a ten percent loss by the time the buy transaction is completed. But sometimes the Canadian-listed stocks are too tempting not to buy them. The other good thing about the buying the Canadian-listed stocks is that I am buying them with US dollars, and then selling them later in presumably appreciated Canadian dollars. So there is some degree of currency play involved as well. Maybe that will make up for the bid-ask and currency exchange, if I hold them long enough.
