The change in governments was not related to corruption. In fact, corruption among politicians is taken for granted. It seems that the politicians have started believing in taking a small piece of a larger pie than controlling the whole pie.

There is a regular shakedown of prominent companies. Pesticides in cola, worms in Cadbury's chocolates, arresting the CEO of eBay subsidiary.

Lot of petty corruption is vanishing because of privatization and the maturity of the Indian industry. There was a time one had to pay a premium to get a two-wheeler. Telephones were very difficult to get, and the uptime of your line was in the hands of the local linesman. Custom duties were high resulting in greater corruption. All that is vanishing.
