The difference is that Auburn thinks they should be national champions and has reason to show the world as such with an undefeated season. Contrast that to Cal that acted like a sullen child and no chance at being viewed as a possible champion. Everyone agrees that a playoff system is the way to go except the college presidents-- the ones that really have the say.
