You can be sure that stealing "Siamese" twin foetuses from a teaching hospital is a crime.

I'm reminded of the funeral home director in Georgia that dumped hundreds of bodies instead of cremating them. He was charged with theft. Can you imagine the anguish of the family of those twins if they found out they were sitting on someone's mantel? I can't fathom the depths of depravity one must have to even think of giving such a "gift."

I see that fetal death certificates are issued to stillborns, so the identity of the twins is recorded somewhere (in this instance, born around 1990). I think the family should know the truth. I also see that legislation is pending in Illinois to allow special birth certificates that are retroactive for 50 years.
