SOROS, I have not heard of a "super-alliance" between VIAS, ZITL and PTUS. However, VIAS did propose a collaborative effort they called c.era which they have just announced will now be facilitated by a company called AnswerThink: answerthink.com. I'm not sure which companies will ultimately participate; perhaps a VIAS expert like TEDennis might know.

I'm not sure if many people know that ALYD was asked to join the original c.era initiative. If you read old posts you'll see some references to an ALYD-VIAS alliance. From what I understand, ALYD took the offer seriously but nothing came of it simply because the project never achieved liftoff. Actually, as hard as I try, I still can't figure out the need for c.era.

"Alliance" is an overused word in this industry. What companies need to be effective is a true "partnership". IMO, a partnership means the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. For example, ALYD and CPWR are a partnership; they are actually writing software together to assure the fix it-test it process is as efficient as possible... and they are sharing a booth at the SPG Conference at the end of this month.

All the companies mentioned in this post will be at the Cruttenden Roth Conference coming up this Thursday, which I will be attending. In fact, VIAS will be presenting right before ALYD. I'll see if I can find out any more details.
