PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Join us as internationally recognized expert Alan Solheim reveals next generation secrets in reconfiguring optical networking. What are the next markets and new applications for optical technology? Solheim discusses the recent evolution of optics and what the future holds.
KEYNOTE: Alan Solheim, International Optical Networking Expert Alan Solheim has authored and coauthored 20 papers in the fields of circuit design and semiconductor manufacture and fiber-optic system design which have been published in referred journals and conferences. He holds 11 patents in the field of semiconductor manufacture, 20 in the field of fiber-optic device and systems design and has approximately 25 patents pending. He has served on conference program committees and acted as a referee for various publications. Most recently, Mr. Solheim was Vice President and Chief Technologist of the Metro & Enterprise Group at Ciena Networks. While at Ciena, he was responsible for portfolio rationalization and direction and managed a multi-site R&D team of over 100 people. Mr. Solheim was CTO of Innovance, a startup company focused on reconfigurable optical networks from 2000 to 2003. He has held leading positions at Nortel Networks, including Director of Optical Network Architecture and VP of the Metro Optical Strategy, where Alan lead the business strategy team for the Metro Optical Business unit.
