MPLS Interoperability…… Aranea redux??

During 2004, MRV was an active participant in interoperability forums for MPLS. SuperDemo at SuperComm 2004… But remember this from the recent past??:

Aranea-1 to Take Part in 'Ready for Revenue' MPLS Showcase for SUPERCOMM 2002

ANDOVER, Mass., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Charlotte's Web Networks, a leading provider of core routers for the IP infrastructure, today announced its participation in the world's largest multi-vendor MPLS interoperability test organized by the MPLS Forum, an international industry organization driving worldwide deployment of multi-vendor MPLS networks, applications, and services. ..We have been implementing MPLS installations since 2001…. Last month at SuperComm, we participated in the MPLS SuperDemo along with other leading vendors…..At SuperComm, MRV announced an industry first -- VPLS auto-discovery services in access edge routers. Auto-discovery enables automatic addition of new customer locations to an existing service. To date, two carriers have already adopted it. [MCI and Telia?] …. As carriers refocus their investment on the access portion of the network,[Verizon BellSouth,Telus?] MRV is ready to meet their needs. We are in a unique position to offer a broad range of solutions starting from entry level managed converters to high performance MPLS/VPLS demarcation devices.

We may also see in Q1 or Q2 ‘05, the return of Charlottes Web and the Aranea recast as the Sand Machine, a Core-Edge Aggregation Router (640 Gbps scalable to 1.2 Tbps and beyond) with the latest and greatest chipset from Dune Networks (MRV holds a 10% interest) enabling ASIC commonality throughout the OSM-Optiswitch product line.

BILL MUSER (ph): If you -- could you update us on Charlotte?

NOAM LOTAN: Yes. Like we said in the previous quarter, we've already made substantial reductions to the burn rate and we have continued that trend in this quarter. We are now at a burn rate of approximately $600,000 per quarter, which is substantially lower. It used to be three times that level, three quarters ago. And about -- we do have -- this is probably the -- the sustainable level.

We have a tremendous team there. They're working on next-generation products, and we are extremely excited about what we hope to accomplish there. Obviously I cannot discuss it at this moment, but we anticipate that there will be product introduction probably a year from now, maybe 3/4 from now. [Q1 of 2005]
