The US was being very "cheap" when it initially offered, if I am not mistaken,

$3M,
and later $15M

of relief aid to the tsunami victims.

Then when Canada topped that with an offer equivalent to US$35M, the US was apparently very embarrassed and so it upped its offer to $350. Apparently this figure was arrived at by noting the fact that the US has about ten times the population of Canada.

Actually, the offer is a sham! Because the Feds routinely run the printing press to churn out paper cash any time it wants to --- much like creating money out of thin air!!! What many folks don't know is that they are being insidiously robbed on the sly: the ever increasing amount of paper ever dilutes the worth of the greenback and that of other currencies worldwide! (The US has been exploiting to the hilt the fact that the greenback is the world's reserve currency. But ironically and anomalously, the US is also the world's greatest debtor!) Oh well, to cut a long story short be sure to read my next post which says a lot about US generosity.
