How can we know in advance how many military we will need for humanatarian reasons? In this case, look at the manpower we have gathered to help with the SE Asian tsunami....An entire aircraft carrier, helicopters and planes, plus pilots and crews for them, how many sailors and soldiers to help on the ground...how many support people to provide food, water, etc for our people, PLUS for the people we are helping....etc.
What if, at the same time, terrorists make impassable the Suez Canal, and/or the Panama Canal at the same time?
How do we plan for that?
And on the WOT....Do we train the military, every one, as if they were to fight the war, but also cross train them on how to maintain the peace, or do we train two or more separate groups? |
