Either the universe has a personal beginning/source or an impersonal one.

There is more variation in the possiblilities.
The real question is whether the universe has a goal.

The big bang could have a personal beginning, for example as a laboratory accident by advanced aliens from 4 billion years ago). They might even have been wiped out by the event. It could still be a random, non-deterministic result.
