Yes. Absolutely. In our age perception counts. Bush should know that by now. It's his job to get in front of the cameras and communicate. What he does off camera is important, but if he doesn't get in front of the camera quickly to communicate his work is marginalized. Who can forget Guliani's presence before the cameras after 9/11? Or Regan's statement to the nation on the day of the Challenger disaster? You must think that he had to run to the microphone. Here's what Bush did from the Dec 27 announcement:
