I am the person in the family who collects family photos and genealogy material. I have photos going back to the beginning of the art of photography. Unfortunately many have no ID on the back, but I hang onto them in hope that I can figure out who they are, eventually.
I called a second cousin in California to tell him that I'd wound up with his baby photos, and the photos of his parents wedding, and his dad in the military, and so forth, and did he want them, and he said no. He's never had children, doesn't expect to, and nobody will want them when he dies. His dad gave them to me after the grandmother died, saying that he did not want them, either. So, I have them.
I really should put them in an envelope with an explanation as to what they are and why I have them.
I don't even know this guy, but I can't just throw them away, because I was close to his grandmother.
I don't have daughters, only sons, so maybe one day they will throw them away. I think men are less sentimental. |
