I guess I'm not understanding your question since I don't remember mentioning nationality.

Let me try to explain how I feel about nationalism.

National patriotism is instilled in young Americans from an early age. It is something one doesn't forget or give up easily. If, as in my case, one happens to be descended from a long line of military people who fought to protect our freedoms or pioneers, who for one reason or another headed out into the wilderness to make a better life, one is not only taught nationalism through the schools in America, but also from his or her parents and grandparents.

Starting with the Pledge of Allegiance right on through Social Studies, State and US history in school, Americans are taught to be proud of their heritage, their common origins and traditions, and the founding fathers of the Constitution of our nation. They are also taught to respect and obey what we call the "laws of the land." The laws of the land are supposed to provide protection against all sorts of mischievous and nefarious individuals and bring order to our society.

I was taught that our laws are not perfect, and that democracy is a work in progress, but that the ultimate goal is to ensure equality and justice for every living soul.

I think I've strayed from your original question.

Would you mind rephrasing it for me please?
