>>if you posted in forum 10000 you could and the original code only indexed forums 1-99999 so in effect everything was priviate.

Those were considered "closed" forums and were not listed on the Message Boards page, but someone forgot to exclude them from the forum selection list when creating new subjects.

>>When SI got rebuilt they forgot to include 10000 and up except for one private area that I'm aware of and we had the problem of having to do everything on one line.

Bob decided that the original < 100 forums were adequate, with some tweaking, so the > 99 forums were excluded from the Message Boards page. Plus, the subject fetches would intentionally fail to retrieve subjects assigned to non-existent forums. All subjects are now assigned to a valid Forum.

>>Now in the new version, threads sitting out in never never land end up getting moved on an occasional basis back to the coffee shop.

I've been working in between other projects on consolidating the threads in the > 99 forums into the < 100 forums. That included eliminating 12,000 subjects that were systematically created several years ago but were never used.

The subject create process had a "Stockwell" exploit available... until this morning. Bet ya can't create any more of them! :-)
